27 Weeks

Standard

I haven’t really had anything to update for a while and then all of the sudden, there’s so much!!

At 27 weeks, our little love is about 16 inches long and probably weighs about 2.5 pounds. The vegetable comparison is a little strange this week–a head of cauliflower. I’m not quite sure that really helps me accurately visualize a baby…

I’m definitely started to feel pregnant! My belly isn’t quite getting in the way yet, but I can feel it coming! I’ve been really surprised at how my night time sleeping has changed. I used to be able to sleep for upwards of 12-13 hours at a time, especially on weekends, but since I’ve been pregnant, it doesn’t matter what time I go to bed, I’m usually up around 7:30. Sometimes, if I try really hard, I can sleep until 8:30, but that’s definitely a stretch! I’m thankful I’m starting to adjust to less sleep now, because I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like soon!

I’m feeling the baby kicking a LOT now! It’s pretty strange and amazing at the same time!

We went to Ikea this weekend to get some furniture for her room. We went with a pretty specific list of what we wanted and did really well to stick to it and not get a million other things (I’m really proud of us!!). We got these bookshelves and fabric baskets. We’ll use the baskets for storage and the shelves for books. At the bottom of the picture, you can see a cute little trash can that matches, too! I don’t want too much pink, but a little is unavoidable!

My favorite thing we got was this awesome fabric!! A while ago I found awesome curtains at Urban Outfitters that I loved. It just stunk that they were $40 each and back ordered until July. If I didn’t find anything else I liked, I was going to bite the bullet and get them, but while we were at Ikea, we looked at the curtains and fabric and found this!! I love the bright, graphic flowers! I was going to ask a friend at school that sews to make the curtains for us, but another friend offered to teach me how to sew (enough to make curtains, at least!) on her extra sewing machine! We’ve already set a date to work on them! She thinks we’ll have enough fabric (we bought 6 yards–we probably don’t know what we’re doing, ehh?!) to make curtains and a crib bumper! From there, we’ll buy solid colored sheets that hopefully coordinate. Just having a direction to move in for decorating is so awesome! We got the double curtain rod a few weeks ago, so we’ll hang plain white curtains behind the colored ones to help block out more light.

ImageImageImageJason is in super-daddy mode and spotted safety plugs for the electrical outlets at Ikea. He put those in, installed a dimmer switch for the light, AND bought replacement knobs for the dresser we already had this weekend. Not to mention his awesome paint job a few weeks ago! I’m doing a good job in the “encouragement” department, not so much the “productive, actual helping” department! 🙂 I think he likes it that way!

We’re picking up the crib a friend is giving us this weekend, so once we have the crib, the other other major furniture we’ll need is the rocking chair!! We’re definitely making progress!!

One more thing I’m excited to put in the room is this awesome painting a friend of ours did a few years ago. It’s called “The Secret Place” and I love the rich meaning of

that. I want my little girl to find comfort, peace, and fulfillment in the secret place with God. This painting is a beautiful reminder of that. The colors are gorgeous too, and go so well with the other colors in the room! Hopefully it will fit!

We’re getting ready and SO excited!!!

  1. What fun! I love the vibrant colors and graphic print. Stimulating and girlie at the same time. I will suggest that my black-out shade has been one of the best investments I made in the nursery department. I can make it 9 pm in there anytime I want. Especially helpful for day naps.
